The Yemen Microfinance Network(YMN) conducted a workshop in Beirut – Lebanon as part of its ongoing cooperation with the German Development Agency (GIZ) . The workshop was aimed at developing YMN strategic business plan for the years 2015, 2016 and 2017 as well as exploring the potential partnership between YMN the Central Bank of Yemen and GIZ. The GIZ is to form a strategic alliance with both YMN and the Central Bank of Yemen.
This midterm review workshop was attended by the Chairman of YMN Mr. Mohammed Allaei, Board Member of YMN Dr. Abdulwasi Al-Wasei , Mr. Ali Abutaleb the Managing Director of YMN as well as the Managing Director of The National Microfinance Foundation. YMN staff also participated in the workshop.
The 2 day workshop was given by Ms. Ranya Abdelbaki former CEO of Sanabel (Microfinance Network for Arab Countries) and current Advisor at the World Bank Group. The GIZ was represented by Mr. Matthias Range Financial Systems Development at GIZ and Ms. Sandra Doempke Advisor PSDP, Mr. Lorance, GIZ advisor as well as Mr. Taufik Al-Dobhani Program Coordinator and Technical Advisor PSDP.
The review sessions included the following:
1. YMN previous strategy.
2. Current trends in the microfinance sector in Yemen.
3. Key issues for the future strategic plan.
4. Review of the critical success factors.
5. Others
