YMN Conducted a training Course in Consumer Protection Guidelines

The Yemen Microfinance Network (YMN) conducted a training course titled “ Consumer Protection Guidelines” as part of the Smart Campaign which emphasize on keeping clients first in microfinance.

The trainers were introduced to the following seven consumer protection principles:

1-  Appropriate product design and delivery.
2- Prevention of over-indebtedness .
3-  Transparency .
4-  Responsible pricing .
5-  Fair and respectful treatment of clients .

6-  Privacy of clients data .
7-  Mechanisms for complaint resolution.

The training course contained practical exercises and presentation of international best practices related to clients’ protection. The training was held in Aden targeting the MFIs operating in Aden, Lahj, Taiz, Ibb and Shabwah.

The participants in the training course were of the following MFIs.

  1. Aden Microfinance Foundation.
  2. Nama’a Microfinance Program.
  3. Tadhamon Microfinance.
  4. Women Association Sustainable Development.
  5. National Microfinance Foundation.
  6. Al-Amal Microfinance Bank.
  7. Alawael Microfinance Company.

The training course was conducted during the period 24 – 27 November 2013.
